free snare compressor plugin

hello
does anyone know of free compressor plugin that will make my snare sound nice and punchy? im recording metal so a good snare (as well as kick) is mandatory

which plug format?

if it's RTAS, check out masseyplugins.com and his ct3 compressor and L2007 limiter.
