I have an iPhone 6 plus. I connect it to my Mac and then look in iTunes under the iPhone Summary tab, and then look at the bottom where there is a colored bar showing the storage space allocation. Here it indicates that I have 10 GB of FREE.

But when I try to fill that free space with say music albums, a notification window pops up immediately on my iPhone that says that I have run out of storage space.

What gives ?? Help would be appreciated
thanks

On device storage is used 55.2 GB. Available storage is reported as 149MB.
So that is the reason why you receive that pop up from your device.
Maybe, you need to check which one takes the most of your space on device.

You have Apple Music and/or iCloud Photo optimized turned on?
I don't have a Apple Music subscription.
iCloud Photo library is turned on.
Optimize iPhone Storage is turned on.

Music uses the most storage- 40.5 GB. Not sure how that helps to solve the problem. iTunes still says that I should have 10GB free.

If you have a large photo library, the phone is supposed to manage free space, deleting hi-res local versions of photos as needed.

How many photos do you have?

I have iCloud Photo Library turned on, which means of course, I don't have very many photos actually stored on my device. Total storage used for Photos & Camera is indicated at 1.0 GB.

Nobody seems to be able to help me here. I guess I will try the Apple.com forum
