same problem

i just bought the sims 2 at an apple store earlier tonight. i'm having the same exact problem about the "not enough disc space" thing.
well, i just bought this macbook last month and i havent had any problems and i've tried every bit of advice given here and nothing has worked. i can't play the game and i have 117.1 GB left. i'm pretty sure that's enough space to run a freaking game.
i just wasted 50 bucks. can anyone help?

It sounds to me like you guys are trying to run the game directly form the CD. Close the CD window when it opens, and double click on your HARD DRIVE (usually something like Macintosh HD), and look for a folder with your game in it and run it from there...

I Have The Answer!

I just figured this out when I recently bought sims 2 for my mac
after dragging the sims 2 file to your hard drive you need to locate the sims within your hard drive, by opening finder. Hope I helped!

You are trying to play the game from the CD.

I had this problem with Civ IV. Instead of clicking on the disk icon, clicking on the Civilization folder, and trying to start the game from there,
you need to:
1. Open up MacHD
2. Drag the Civilization folder on the disk into the applications folder in MacHD

This will install the game on your hard drive.
Then you should open up the applications folder and play the game from there. I don't have the Sims game, but I have a feeling it is a similar problem.

I wish the makers of the game had explained that little technicality about installation.
