Uh...what? What kind of "upgrade" are you going to get on an iPod? More RAM? A free engraving of someone else's name? :p

Except for the engraving, iPods don't have BTO options.

I suppose they could send you a 80 instead of a 30, but I highly doubt that has ever happened.

Just asking...
Wasn't sure if there were cases if people got better plugs or better dock ports, but thanks all the same!

Unfortunately, better plugs isn't possible. They took out Firewire capability, adding the wire won't change it.

At the peril of threadcrapping myself... nice threadcrap. You couldn't just wait until tomorrow and actually post something contributive?

No - Just like everyother mac owner, couldn't wait for the computer to get here, so i guess i was jumping the gun. Well, i got a broken 800 firewire drive, does that count?

Ouch, that sucks. I assume they'll handle it like any other warranty claim? You're not going to have to send back the whole computer, are you?

I didn't think I was going to have to, but they were going to gut out my macpro with a new motherboard. I didn't feel comfortable doing that for a computer less than a week old and they tech guys did a lot of head scratching during the process.

So long story short, I'm sending back for a 100% refund and I bought a new computer down the street at an apple store. I've always had good luck with a refurb, pretty much all the computers I buy are refurb, but this is my bread and butter computer, so can't have any doubts. You know what I mean?

I made out like a bandit...

Just opened up the iMac 20" Core 2 Duo refurb & found:

List 2.16GHz / Came with 2.33GHz

List 250MB HD / Came with 500MB HD

List 1GB (2x512MB) RAM / Came with 1GB (1x1GB) RAM

The funny thing is when I was deciding between new or refurb I was going to spec the new one with the 256 video card & no other upgrades so I got basically the opposite of what I was going to get but I'm NOT complaining. I'm especially happy about that open memory slot so I can just pick up another 1GB stick instead of having to sell 2 512's first.
