Free Video Converting Software

I am looking for a free video converting program, that will handle things such as avi,divx,mpeg, etc.

If there aren't any free ones, inexpensive ones will have to do 😀

What do you guys (and gals) recommend?

you could recommend HandBrake - one of the most popular apps for video converting ever.
