I think you might struggle trying to find hosting that is free, reliable and ad-free unless you try and nab some webspace off a friend. Do you need support for any scripting (PHP, ASP, RoR etc.) or databases?
If you're prepared to cough up a little cash, I highly recommend the folks at A Small Orange. Otherwise, this might be a good place to start.
