Can you not just use the activity window?

You could use KeepVid, or you could use ClickToFlash, or you could use Safari's Activity window, and all of these are free.

For me JDownloader works well…
Just copy the YouTube link and it picks it up automatically… you can then choose what you want to download — full video or even just the soundtrack.
