What do you mean by internal audio?

-iGrant

the audio that is played in your computer prior to going to speakers

right now, the only recording solution i can find has to use a mic as the source

imagine not having speakers hooked up to your computer but still recording audio that would be playing on your computer

Ok stupid question, why would you want to record the internal sounds?

For example, to digitally capture audio from a streaming radio station playing in iTunes so you can save it for later.

EDIT: That's what I would use such software for.

Hope it works for you, I don't see why it shouldn't. I have used Audacity before, the UI is a bit clunky the last time I used it, however functionally it did exactly what I wanted to do.
