anyone else experiencing this issue ?
Sine upgrading my iPad1 to iOS5,I'm having frequent crashes in Safari. i disabled the bppkmarks but it didn't do no good.
And yes,I've tried restoring it. (as a new iPad)

I'm getting it too on my iPad 1. It's in frequent and annoying when it does happen. Must be the ramis getting maxed out?

Hopefully a future update addresses it.

Putting safari into private mode has solved the crashes, it's not exactly a long term solution but still.

Don't notice the issue on the iPhone 4S but on the iPad 1 it's terrible.

Is it still possible to downgrade to iOS 4?

Update - Private mode does seem to help...

go to Settings / General / Reset / Reset all settings

doesnt wipeout data. It fixed 90+% of my crashes.

Atomic Lite & SecureWeb browsers also crash less...

i also have the System Activity app that clears memory...

thanks but it didn't help.
today it got even worse,it crashed as soon as I opened it so i had to turn my iPad off and turn it on again in order to work with Safari again

I also tried the private mode but it didn't help either.

guess we just have to wait for a software update. (had to type this message twice becaus wit crashed in thmiddle of typing )

Has anyone tried the new 5.0.1 beta? The headline feature for 5.0.1 seems to be fixes for battery life issues but I really hope that they've also fixed the Safari stability issues.

We are running out of system resources. I would suggest that you close open apps and use Xsysinfo to free up memory.

Works for me.

I'm not. I usually have 4-7 tabs open, have 64GB wifi with lots of apps and lots of content. I'm finding Safari quite stable and I often used 3rd party browser apps before IOS 5.

I do hope that Apple can do something for the gen 1 folks that are having issues. I'm reasonably happy with it and improved or added things I like and use. If Ipad 3 isn't the announced version by May I will keep this one until it is--and thank goodness mine is working okay, though with some things turned off.

Have you talked to the anyone at the genius bar in an Apple store? It would be interesting to hear their response.

I have an iPad 2 and am now using iOS 5. I don't recall ever seeing Safari crash. I think I had one lock up. Besides that iHeart Radio and Live 365 crash somewhat often (once a week or so). Other than that things are rather stable.

This clearly doesn't help you much but it suggests that these crashes are not systematic bugs but something related to your specific iPad. Either something prevents a good install of the system and software or there is some hardware issue bringing it down from time to time.

its gotten significantly worse on my iPad 1. After clearing history & cache, Safari won't even load a page, it just crashes instantly. Can't even use it. All other browsers work, just Safari is unusable now.

I'm one step away from restoring as new, but would like to avoid that if possible.

Bummer man.

OK, 5.0.1 is now official so no NDA issues. Can anyone comment? Does 5.0.1 fix the Safari stability issues?
