Is there anyway to disable the frequently visited websites in safari completely? I know it's possibe to hold them and then tap delete one by one but that is kind of a nuisance to do every time.

I've also found out that when I tap and hold delete sometimes it will disappear but then come right back next time I go to the blank page

Where do these even show up?
They appear every time you open a new page in Safari, under Suggested Sites. But what I'd like to know is how to restore them. Wikipedia just suddenly disappeared from my list of Frequently Visited sites.

Odd, I don't have them at all. Possibly because I don't have favorites. As for how would a site show up there, it sounds like it would be based on how often you visit it. That said, if there is a site you generally want to have available you can add it to your favorites and always have it there.

It's independent from Favorites/Bookmarks. I have an actual list of Favorites in Safari, and it's different from Frequently Visited.

And yes, Frequently Visited is just as the name suggests. It's even ranked based on how frequently you use each site. And prior to disappearing, Wikipedia was my number two, so it's definitely not a problem with how often I use it.

Right, they are different, but if I don't have any favorites saved on my iPhone then opening a new tab just shows a blank page without even frequently used sites (only if I have at least one favorite then it will show it and below show frequently visited sites).
