[I am convinced it is very important to document error messages entirely and verbatim. Either screenshot them if you can or just take the time to write them down. Almost always, for me, searching on an error message has given me information that led to a resolution IF I was lost. To me, documenting the error message verbatim is the key if you are stumped by an issue. You can search on the error message or, in forums, you can pretty quickly encounter a user who may be able to use that error message to help you. It is also good to try and understand what is giving you the error message. Is it an operating system error message, is it a third party software error message?]

I am sure some of the expert user's in this forum can competently expand from where I am starting, but:

The Hub? Is it a powered hub? If it is do you have it plugged into AC? You do not have it plugged into another hub do you?

1. Shutdown your Macbook and disconnect every single accessory from it except the power cord. Disconnect the hub from the Macbook also. Be sure to disconnect the accessories from the machine end itself. The only thing you should have left connected to your Macbook is the power cord. [OPTIONAL]: At this point I would prefer you open the Disk Utility app and "VERIFY disk permissions" on your home drive. I do not mean the Lacie drive I mean your startup drive where the operating system is installed. Take a screenshot of the results and save the screenshot. I do not mean repair disk permissions I mean "Verify Disk Permissions".

2. Now turn your Macbook back on, with everything still DISCONNECTED, and determine if the issue(s) you were complaining about manifest again. Obviously you will need to use the built in keyboard and trackpad. note: Please spend a good amount of time trying to recreate the issues. Do not just give it 20 minutes and say the issues are not manifesting. If there were things that you did which seemed to make the issues manifest, then, do those things and try to force the issues to appear.

3. If the issues do not manifest shutdown your Macbook. Plug the Lacie harddrive DIRECTLY into one of the USB ports on the Macbook itself. Do not use the hub. You should just have the power cord connected to your Macbook and the Lacie harddrive plugged DIRECTLY into one of the USB ports built into your Macbook. You will still be using your built in keyboard and trackpad. Turn your Macbook back on and determine if the issue(s) you were complaining about manifest again.

If the issue(s) you were complaining about do not manifest again after step 3, then, you will need to add one single accessory at a time and try the machine out until the issue(s) manifests again. For instance, if the issue(s) do not manifest in step 3, then, shutdown your Macbook and plug the USB hub into one of the Macbook's built in USB ports AND plug the Lacie harddrive into the USB hub and turn your Macbook back on and try to make it manifest the issue(s).

I actually had removed the hub and have the Lacie directly connected to my Macbook Pro via firewire. But I will try the other tests. Thank you.
