Friend Used My Address on his Drivers License. Repercussions?

Hello, so I had a quick question. My friend let me know that he used my address on his drivers license.

Whats done is done so lets look forward right now. What are some of the repercussions that can come out of this? Can the government somehow try to get me through the census? Will I pay more taxes because the computer shows more people living at my house? Just want to know all possibilities.

I think he is still getting all his bills sent to a different address (dont ask) and used my address ONLY for his drivers license.

It won't effect much at all if none of the bills in the house are in his name. You will just receive any mail that is sent to him from the state or DMV.
 
Going to suck to be you when whatever/whoever he's hiding from shows up and gives you what they meant for him. :eek:
 
I would document that you didnt provide any false proof to use the address. Didn't he have to give a bill or some similar document to prove residence? In NJ there's several documents required, and I would assume your friend is on the hook for a fraud charge if anyone cares to investigate.

I'd make sure you don't get caught up in that.

Yeah--if he is wanted for something--especially something bad--it is certainly possible your house could be raided via a search warrant.

Yes it's suspiciously stupid, and the OP knows why his friend did it, but as he said. "don't ask".

Seems suspicious to me and raises a few flags. I'd be concerned about what might come down the pike for him, at your house, as others mentioned.

That is what I'd be worried about. Sounds like he is trying to hide from something and I wouldn't want to be caught in the middle if I were you, OP.
 
I would assume where he is living someone is claiming welfare and by him living there it would effect how much that person would get per month. That or hes claiming it himself under your address.
 
I would be concerned about a SWAT team looking for his meth lab/grow operation/whatever kicking in my door and shooting my dog.
 
Correct. I do know the reason. I would share it but its his business to out of respect to him, I will keep it to myself.

It has nothing to do with loans or arrest warrants. Nothing on those lines lol

Does anyone on here know your real name or his? It would still be private if you said the reason. I don't see Mr. Theturtle or his corrupt friends in the phone book.
 
Yeah, I know but still I would feel uncomfortable sharing the reason.

Regarding the comment "messing me up," thats the reason why I posted this question here. Its not about bills or loan sharks trying to find him. I was just curious on whether if he used my address on his drivers license, if there would be any problems for ME.

Cops and loans sharks aren't going to happen. Thats 100%
 
If he's just doing it because you live in a different state with lower vehicle registration fees your state is likely to not care too much and keep taking the money. Otherwise without knowing what he is hiding from we can't really tell you if it'll create a problem for you.
 
It screws your friend up when it comes time to vote, because it screws up voter registration (in my state anyway, it's handled through DMV).
 
I don't know what state(s) you and your friend are in, you didn't share that.

I have received more than my fair share of speeding tickets across 3 states in the southern part of the country, and without fail, I am always asked if the address on my drivers license is the correct one.

Also, I recently renewed my license, and, at least for my state, I recall having to sign a statement indicating that if my address changed, I either had 30 or 90 days to update my license. I don't recall which.
