Hey All!

My friend wants to upgrade from his current LG Stylo 2. He's on T-mobile. He's not incredibly tech-savvy but can usually get by just fine on his own with settings, etc. He just doesn't have the enthusiasm that we have here. Here are some of his requirements:

5.7" screen or bigger
Good Camera quality
Around/Under $350

I've thumbed through t-mobiles offerings as financing a phone would be easiest, but he has so-so credit which means he has to put down half the phone cost for down payment. They only seem to offer top-tier premium or phones similar in quality to the Stylo 2. Not a ton of midrange options.

I've checked out amazon/swappa/best buy but my biggest problem in assisting him is the sheer number of options. I've had android phones in the past but there used to be a clearer line between flagship/midrange/budget. There are so many manufacturers with so many models that I can't seem to sift through them all. I did find a Sony XA Ultra on Warehouse Deals that was under $200 but not sure where Sony phones stand anymore.

Any advice? All input appreciated!

The 5.7" screen or bigger makes this one tough for me. Most of the phones I would recommend close to that price point would be 5.5” or smaller. Those recommendations would be either a Motorola, OnePlus or Pixel XL. Sony phones are pretty good but I don’t believe they offer fingerprint readers for their US models, so not sure if that would be an issue or not.

Moto 5S plus 5.5" screen, either 64GB or 32GB should be close enough. This year's phone model. Just my 2 cents.

He should maybe look into something like the Note 5, yes it’s 2 years old but is still a good performer and good camera even by today’s standards.

That only has a 5.1” screen, he was asking for at least 5.7”.

Here is the Note 5 on Amazon for $269.
