iPod touch Friends iPod Touch Problem

My friends ipod touch wouldn't detect on itunes so he put it into recovory mode and tried to restore it. But when he was in the process of doing so it came up with a screen on itunes that says Uknown error 1604 can not restore ipod. He went to apple support and tried all of the trouble shooting options... So now its stuck in recovory mode and wont come out of it, he has already tried Independence but it wont work!

Please help my friend out ! he is completely freaking out, luckly it was not jailbroken so he can bring it to apple, which he is... HELP😱

Well, if he is planning on bringing it to the Apple Store, then why here, they will fix it for him there, or replace the unit, assuming (yes I know, I know) that he hasn't done anyting to void the warranty.
