It may well be like a paper-cut in the sense that it`s not a problem until you actually notice it (or have it pointed out) and then it`s ALL you notice.
I recently discovered a dead insect inside the LCD on my Win7 laptop and it drives me mad everytime I use it.

@magamo: That is the best sig I`ve seen in years!:)

because that's what friends do .... care? because maybe she didn't see it yet but in a few months when she uses it in the dark and it glows like a torch in the night she will go "jikes my mbp is broken" and get all frustrated when i tell her i saw that weeks ago and more so when apple tells her it isn't a DOA anymore after 4 months of usage?

Sure, but care about her happiness not her screen. If she doesn't care about the pixel why do you? Are you even sure she hasn't noticed it? For most of us, one dead pixel is something we completely overlook. I have two and I forget they are there for months on end. So are you sure that bringing up what is really a tiny defect and making a big deal out of it is caring about her happiness? She's happy now. Let her enjoy the computer.

I'm not 100% sure how the MBP screens work, but if it is green it is probably stuck. In that case, this might work:

+1 on this. If the pixel is green it is stuck. Black= dead. That said i bought an iPad 2 weeks ago and had 1 dead pixel. Took back to apple store the next day and the replaced it on the spot.

I would see if the fix works first, if not go from there.
