I never hang onto a phone for several years. But wondering if anyone went from the 12m to 13m and if it has been worth it at all. Like most my only concern is battery.

I traded in my 12 mini yesterday when I picked up the 13 mini. I haven't put the phone thru all of its tech paces yet but, I have noticed that the battery is lasting longer and I have been able to make use of T-Mobile's 5G uc band at times. I haven't tested the camera.

Can anyone comment on speakers differences between the 12 mini and 13 mini? Have they been improved at all?

13 mini is slightly thicker and heavier and the camera bump is bigger. I haven’t had it long enough to know about the battery but I’m assuming it’s better. My 12 mini screen had a slight green tint and the 13 does not.

I think the new ones sound pretty good but I’ve never been big on using the speakers - I use headphones or play music through my HomePod.

Does it still feel like it gets warm like the 12mini? I’m really trying to decide between the mini and 13 pro. No reason for the plain 13 or pro max here.

Has anyone tried using their 12 mini cases with their new iphone 13 mini?
I haven’t tried but the camera bump on the 13 is bigger and the body is thicker, so it would definitely be a less than optimal fit, if it even goes on all the way.

I didn’t find my mini getting warm until the recent iOS 14.8 update, but then it was getting really warm. My 13 mini is not having that issue. Note that I never upgraded my 12 mini to iOS 15, so I can’t compare there.

ugh. coming from an iphone 7, my 13's screen is a pukey yellow green. my iphone 7, ipad and mac all render things near identically, and the 13 is just... gross. i figured it might be a limitation of oled, but if its possible some screens are less like this... i may have to consider an exchange.

Have you tried checking if True Tone is turned on or off? If it’s on, that could be causing the problem. If it’s off, then yeah, you may need to exchange it.

I upgraded from a 12 Mini to a 13 Mini.

Battery does seem to be better (though I'm not a heavy user, so I was getting nearly 2 days on my 12 Mini's battery as well).
I didn't have trouble with green or yellow tint on my 12 Mini screen, and the 13 Mini is the same- looks great.

I have only used the camera a couple of times- can't really tell a difference as the 12 Mini already had a great camera.

Cinematic Mode is going to be cool to use for video, which of course isn't on the 12 Mini- I only played around it a bit with the kids, and it looks like it'll be a fun feature.

And I noticed the warmth as well on my 12 Mini- just simply browsing reddit or Facebook would make it get warm to the touch- not hot per se, but warm as if it was being worked rather hard. Didn't really have that issue before the last couple of months.
I don't seem to notice that on my 13 Mini- though it did get really hot during setup, which is to be expected when it's working hard installing the OS and transferring gigs of data over from the old phone.

The 12 mini leather sleeve fits the 13 mini. I have a brand new 12 mini silicone case but, haven't tried it, yet.
Are you referring to the Apple 12 Mini leather sleeve- the one with the cutout on the front to see the time?
I see that is heavily discounted right now at a few retailers, down to $51- I was considering getting it since I go caseless on my phone, but was worried the larger camera bump on the 13 Mini would make it either not fit at all, or would make it really a tight fit.
Can you expand on this- does it seem to fit really well in this sleeve?

I noticed a huge difference.

  • The 12's screen physically hurt my eyes to use. I ended up returning it.
  • The 12 was lighter, and I'm not sure if it's the difference in case (same brand/model) or the extra half mm, but The 12 was easier to use one handed.
  • The battery life is far better on the 13, and it's much easier to use outside in direct sunlight. The 12 was about as useful as an original SE in direct sun.
I upgraded from an X to a 12 mini, and was ecstatic due to the smaller size. When I had to get rid of the 12 mini, I purchased an SE for about $65, and have "dealt" with it for the last year. I would recommend the 13 mini over the 12 mini any day of the week, even if the display doesn't effect your eyes. The battery life alone seems to make it worth it, IMO.

Slightly noticeable increases in speed, screen quality, thickness, weight and camera. Significant battery life improvement.

The battery life by itself made the jump worth it ($120 out-of-pocket apple trade-in helped too)

That is the case I was referring to. It fits fine and can still slide in and out as created.

That's great, thanks for sharing! Do you use a screen protector? If so, does that get caught or affected at all when sliding the phone in and out given that the 13 Mini is a bit thicker than the 12 Mini?

I have a Belkin Ultraglass screen protector purchased online from the Apple Store. It does not hinder use of the case in any way.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread just for this question, but do you find it still does the colour match of case to clock screen that you can see?
