In these days the battery of my 12 mini became terrible. So, I’m thinking about:
a) replace the device with AC+and keep it;
b) replace the device with AC+, sell it and pick up a 14 pro max 512 gb.

Pros for the 14 pro max are better battery, better screen and better photo camer; cons are dimensions, weight and price (no money problem but discomfort about thinking of spending 1900€).

I think this is something you need to decide. You list the pluses and minuses. You got to decide what you want and what is most important.

Neither. Would suggest 14 Plus instead. The jump from mini to 6.7-inch is big. The battery life of 14 Plus is excellent without the weight.

Replace 12 mini with apple care, sell and upgrade to 13 mini. Although it seems like a boring way, this is the right way, I say it as someone who tried it.
You obviously won't get Pro Max level battery life but the 13 mini is a nice upgrade from the 12 mini in the battery department. It was a very noticeable difference for me.

-Or pro max just a heavier plus
-Or mini is just a smaller plus
-Or regular pro just a 14 with shiny sides
Yeah, this is meaningless
Or meaning with empty inside
if you want lightweight go plus... all the way or pro go pro... max is heavy!

I switched from the 12 Mini to the 14 Pro (non-Max) and after a week returned it for being way too heavy, unwieldy and large for me. Also I just hated the ridiculous camera bump.
I kept using the 12 Mini for a couple of weeks and now replaced it with a 13 Mini as I got a good deal on one.
So if you actually try the 14 Pro Max: buy it from somewhere with easy returns and don‘t sell the Mini before you‘re absolutely confident that you can live with the size, weight and handling of the large iPhone.

The regular 14 or 14 Plus might actually be an alternative if you only want better battery life as they are not that heavy and don‘t have that extremely large camera bump (which makes them even more uneven while lying on a desk and somehow affect balance when holding them, at least for the 14 Pro).

I moved up from the 12 mini to the 14 pro for the battery life and better screen.

I too, started to think the 12 mini battery just wasn't enough. I constantly charged the thing and had to leave it plugged in for any heavy use.

The screen on the 14 pro is beautiful. Major, noticeable upgrade. So is the weight. For me the size doesn't bother me at all, its still very easy to hold and text with one hand. The weight you can feel in the hand an in the pocket but after a few weeks it doesn't bother me. The good outweighs the bad.

If you really like the mini form factor the 13 mini supposedly has a pretty good jump in battery life. The 14 has a huge jump in battery life though not as huge as I hoped. The 14 is better for power usage if you use your phone all the time and is your only or primary device. The max would be WAY too large for me. I don't have any interest in a huge phone again. No regrets on the 14 pro for me.

Thank you everybody. I’m still thinking because I’m really tempted by 48 mp camera of 14 pro/14 pro max. At the same time I really appreciate size and weight of 12 mini. Upgrading to 13 mini could be another option. 14/14 plus aren’t option, for me: if I will pick up a 2022 model, it will be a Pro.

By the way the most probable things is that I will pick up a 13 for my wife and replace the 12 mini with AC+, for this year.

I wouldn't rule out the (standard 6.1") 14 Pro, since you are used to a smaller iPhone--as it may strike the balance of features you brought up (eg the camera) with a more compact size than the 14 Pro Max. It's also more suitable for one handed use than the other larger options.

It seems that my wife want my 12 mini to use the smartphone less often than now. In this I will pick up a new one: thinking about red product 13 mini 256 gb. Especially if I will find a good discount price from ebay or amazon.

Hey OP, what did you end up going with?

I actually went from the 13 mini to the 14 pro to the 14 pro max.
My reasons for this is that I have small hands. The pro is a two handed device for me but so much more awkward to hold than the pro max in my opinion. The dimensions seem off and makes it feel more unwieldy than the pro max since I am using two hands either way.
