My 2012 rMBP died and I got a pretty good deal on a 2017 2.9Ghz/16GB/512GB/560+4GB 15" MBP with Touchbar. I was hesitant at first after watching/reading several reviews that gave the laptop less than stellar marks. I looked at the Dell XPS but just could not bring myself to get it, mostly because of Windows OS vs MacOS. I am not an OS snob but I really don't like Windows. It seems so clunky, bloated, confusing, and not as polished as MacOS in my opinion.
So I go the 2017 MBP+Touchbar. This is one awesome machine.
It took me a bit of getting used to the keyboard and I still don't love it but I don't mind it either. The more I use it the more I get used to it.
The Touchbar was basically useless until I installed BetterTouchTool and the Golden Chaos preset. Now the Touchbar makes sense and is useful. There are so many possibilities now.
I don't mind the USB-C ports as most of my peripherals are Bluetooth anyway but I do miss the MagSafe adapter.
Display is fantastic as is the new, large Trackpad. Performance is great, especially the SSD. The build quality of the body is great. Speaker sound quality is really good.
Anyway, just wanted to say the 2017 is a very nice machine with way more pros than cons.
