From fully drained to 79% in 1 hours via fast charging is this okay?

iPhone x 256gb verizon variant, iphone’s battery was fully drained, set an alarm for 1 hour as soon as i plugged it into the apple’s 29W charger & apple’s usb-c to lightning cable. Is this how it suppose to be? I was not using iphone at all but was receiving notifications. I thought it would full charge in 1 hour because apple said 50% charge in 30 minutes?

Takes about 1 1/2 hours to fully charge it from 0%. That’s twice as fast as an iPhone 7 Plus charges. Not shabby at all.

Glad to know, your answer seems accurate. Currently on 88% and time elapsed is 1 hour 23 minutes.

Edit: 92% charged in 1 hour and 30 minutes. I am sure there maybe some factors come into play to charge fully in 1 hours 30. Maybe to turn off BT, WiFi, notifications etc..which i am not aware of.

Charge slows down progressively after 50% and trickle charges from 90-100%. 0-50% is fast, 50-80% is about half the speed of 0-50, and the rest charges slowly. It’s like a cup of water, fill it too fast without slowing down and overflows. Instead, you can fill it fast and slow when it’s close to full to prevent it from overflowing.

True i noticed it too, last 10% takes lot longer.
 
Daaang that’s fast bro. I don’t know whether it’s normal or not but if it is normal wow I’m impressed!!!!!!

That's not the case, fast charger only gives you 40% more ability. However, it doesn't mean it's gonna charge in 30mins, I have noticed from 0 to 100 it takes like 1h 15mins of time.
 
Genuinely the whole fast charging thing is not worth the extra money. A genuine iPad charger charges almost as fast as the USB C chargers. But that time frame looks fine.

I have a 10 watt iPad charger. I know there is also a 12 W out there. How fast would the 12 W take to fully charge an X?
 
My understanding was the the batteries only allow 'fast charging' to a certain point before they throttle themselves back to 'normal' speeds so as not to overheat or some such.

Anyone with more knowledge feel free to correct me, as I might be talking out of my arse.
 
I think it's okay. Here's a video showing fast charging. It just took 45 minutes to reach 79% from 9% and full charge in 105 minutes.
 
Some people do not know the joy of fast charge.. I had it on the s6 S7 and now s8. It' j incredibly handy. Especially for smartphone junks like me. That was 1 major advantage over the iPhones. Glad they have the option now.

The iPad charger did charge faster on the older iPhones, but it drained a lot faster.
 
Fast charging is awesome if you’re running low and need a quick zap to get you to 50%. After that it’s mostly irrelevant.
 
I'm all about the slow charging, if you know what I mean ...
