I've been using a lot of data this month so I check to see what the usage is once in awhile. I've been noticing that my connection goes from LTE to 4G after I text AT&T at *3282#. I don't know how long that's been going on for. I started to notice it a few days ago. I just did it again and the same thing happened. It goes back to LTE if I restart the phone. Any idea why?

That's normal. Not all areas support VoLTE so calling reverts to 4G. It should go back to LTE in a few seconds/minutes once the call is done.

Yeah, it does that on T-Mobile as well. I'm sure that it is relates to VoLTE or some text carrier limitation like rui no onna suggested.
