I'm currently using an early 2009 Mac Pro running OS X 10.8.2. Quad-Core Xeon 2.66 GHz, 16GB RAM. Anyway, I'm getting a maxed out 27" iMac to take its place.

I was using a WD MyBookWorld II network drive for time machine backups, but apparently upgrading to Mountain Lion broke that capability. So now I'm looking for a Thunderbolt external drive to use with the new iMac. I want to be able to make a backup of my Mac Pro, put it on the thunderbolt drive and then load it on the new iMac. My HD shows 435 GB used.

So does anyone have a Thunderbolt drive that would be able to connect to the Mac Pro (USB 2 or Firewire) and would also have Thunderbolt?

Here's a Thunderbolt + USB 3 drive - http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA481VC/A

Personally I'd get a USB 3 drive, not one with Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt ports could be used for better things, and Thunderbolt drives are going to cost more. That's just my opinion though.

That's a good point. I'll be using the drive for Time Machine backups, there's no reason it really needs to be Thunderbolt. Something like this maybe:
