I’m currently running Ventura 13.2 and I am considering to going back to Monterey. There are just too many bugs in Ventura sadly so.

Can I do this by downloading and installing Monterey from the App Store and just letting the macOS Monterey to be installed.

All my data is backed up on my USB drive.

Will this cause issues or do I need to first erase Ventura?

I’m on the M1 MacBook Pro.

After erasing the drive, wont that also wipe the macOS installer file downloaded from the App Store?

Please explain the process, thanks.

I checked the App Store as well and I guess Apple decided to remove Monterey from there.

Maybe Its just worth keeping Ventura anyways as this might be time consuming and I do not want to mess things up even more.

The main thing here, is that I learned my lesson and just wait awhile whenever a new major upgrade is released.
Not just me, but to anyone else out here who may be reading this. DO NOT UPGRADE and wait until all the bugs are fixed. That is my suggestion.

Thanks.

what your experience is does not speak for everyone; many of us are pretty happy on ventura. and there will be (as with every OS before it), bug fixes coming in future updates.

'all bugs' are never resolved, it's a constant process...

You can download Monterey from here and create a bootable disk.

BTW, what's your set up? I have a 2015 MBP with OCLP and Ventura 13.2 with little to no problems.

I have MBP 16" i9 64Gb ram 8Tb SSD and Ventura is horrible! It's slower and has kernel panics and perma freezes requiring a reboot at least once a day.

Since I had to start again I am thinking of going back as far as Catalina since I don't need new features I just need speed and stability. I can't remember which was the fastest in the finder and search but from memory everything go slower a bit every new OS. I have always used ONyx and cleanmymac prior to a macOS upgrade and after.

I'm more of a "hardware guy" but here's a link that could help. My first question was your 8 TB SSD and possible errors. Did you used an adapter? Is there software (app) that is causing Ventura to act up? However, I'm leaning toward a hardware problem---like I said my 2015 and 2009 work really well on Ventura (I returned my 2009 back to Moneterry just because i was bored---LOL)

Here's a few links that might help:

can you use OCLP on your macbook pro?
my macbook pro from 2012 runs great with Monterey using this process.
I just don't know what year your MBPro is from.
