I was hoping to be able to easily change the sim between my iPhone 14 Pro and my iPhone X but after doing some research it seems like this is not easy to do on a regular basis.

Is that correct?

Thank you for your help.

Unless you are outside of the US. The 14 doesn’t have a SIM tray and you have to use an esim.

Seeing that X doesn’t support eSIM, then yes that is what you need to do.

Ok, that's what I found searching online for answers too. I guess most people aren't looking to switch sims regularly so that's why Apple went with this system

Ok, but I cannot use the same sim? I have to go to AT&T each time if I want to switch from iPhone 14 Pro back to X?
Once you transfer that physical sim to esim, that physical sim is now toast. you'll have to get a new one. Otherwise, your other option would be is buy one from Canada, it does have a sim card slot.

Whatever your reason for doing this, it's probably not worth it. You would be better off buying a new phone that supports esim or reworking your flow so that you would not need to switch back and forth in the first place.

Picked up a XR just for this reason. If I have to take my phone into the Genius Bar for repair I need a backup. The old backup was a 8, still a good phone but doesn’t support esim.

I have an electronic accident prone teenager and spouse. One of them cracked a screen in the spring and the Genius Bar took until the day after the appointment to finish the repair.

If you are using a physical SIM card, I don’t see why you can’t do that on a regular basis, unless carrier imposes some stupida** restrictions locking their physical SIM into the device you used to activate it on.

Oh. I’m thinking about SIM tray model.
If it’s esim vs SIM card then there’s no easy way to swap them, unless the barcode can be scanned multiple times (using the same barcode) which I don’t think carrier allow to do.

I used to do this so I could utilise a plan that has more data allowance in the end to maximise it. But otherwise, I don’t swap SIM card between devices that often.
