I think I would drive around that state. :)

A lot of people do. :) Its the same with triple semis.

Its dangerous as heck. I'll never forget the pics my mom brought home when a guy carrying cattle this way (legally with a gooseneck trailer in front) lost control and rolled the rear trailer...

Florida is back only. I think the reason is due to college football. If we were forced to take down our Gator and Seminole plates in favor of another license plate people would erupt.

Agree with OP, hate plates in front, of any kind.

Anyone know what the standing is for front license plates in Connecticut? I don't want one when i get my car A. because it looks stupid, but mostly because lots of cars i've seen have simply two screws going through the bumper holding it on. This looks terrible as well as ruins your front bumper. Thoughts?

You have to have a front in Connecticut.

If you have 2 plates issued you have to display them both. Some cops will look for both.

Yeah i was thinking i needed both, but i have a few friends who don't have any fronts on their cars at home, CT residents as well, and have never had an issue with it. This said, it's not like they have never been stopped by cops before, but haven't had any issues with not having a front, the dealer didn't even put a front on.

I live in Illinois, which is a 2 plate state. Let me give you some advice.

Do i use 2 plates? No. When i got my car, i ripped the bracket off. Makes the car look so much better. Most if not all cars now come with a bracket, and they don't make 2 holes in the bumper. I've been driving for months now without a front plate and I have never gotten pulled over. One thing is, if the cop is going the other way than you are, and the road is kind of busy, they more than likely won't even bother, there are more important things.

If you do get caught, and you do get a ticket, it's like $70 - $90 around here.

What kind of car do you have?

I was up in the area for nearly two years, at the hospital on and off, and locals told me to simply put a clear, shiny, plastic cover over the front plate to dodge the cameras. The glare throws off a good view similar to shiny laptop screens in certain light :).
By the way, the Mythbusters completely busted that myth. There isn't anything on the market that throws off red light cameras that doesn't obstruct the plate itself (ie. illegal), not even going 200MPH (yes they actually tested that).

I've ran the tolls in Illinois a few times because I either forgot or didn't have money. This was 3 months ago and I have yet to get something in the mail. My car is kinda low, and I'll admit I was going over 100+ through the camera. ;)

Wow. I didn't know that. I loved the episode where they tried to float a boat with ping pong balls, or where they tried to get enough balloons to lift a person off the ground. I won't say their outcome in case people have not watched those two. :)

IL requires both plates to be properly displayed. Most officers will just issue a warning, but it is probable cause for a stop or a good ticket if they must get their numbers up. Putting the front plate on the dash does not count.

Over her in continental Europe, there is no debate: front and back plates compulsory, and everyone has them mounted. Something that is done for you when buying the car.
I hate the front plates. So ugly... especially here in Holland. Ugly yellow plates with boring black tasteless characters. Ugh.

I am jealous of the German plates... they look cool.

assuming you don't have the car yet and/or you don't have a car that is insured, when you go pick up the plates ask how many (by law) you need. if they say one will do, pay for one, if they say you need two legally, pay for two.

it helps to ask because why would you want to pay for two if you don't have to. good luck!

Except for extreme weather doubles or triples aren't much more dangerous than a single trailer, assuming the driver knows what they are doing.

BTW, I have my doubles/triples endorsement on my CDL. I would have no problems pulling a set of doubles or triples as long as it wasn't on snow and ice.

the one problem is I think most states do not make you pay for the plates. In Texas for example you do not pay any money for new plates or to get the first ones. They just give them to you. Mind you I am paying my state (Texas) like 50-60 bucks a year for the car registration so it is not like the plates really cost that much.

to be honest i'm 16 and i'm getting my license within a few weeks, i have a car but long story short it's registered under my brother so we transferred plates from his old car to "our" new car. i didn't know if there was a fee or anything, just assumed.
