I wonder if Apple's considering launching a new version of Front Row in the App Store, maybe even paid (though it'd probably be $1.99-4.99, not very expensive). I can't see them dropping it completely, because they know the Mac Mini is popular as a HTPC. They even advertise it that way on their website.

I can't speak for everyone using Minis as HTPCs, but I use Plex or XBMC. I also believe it's the end of the line for Front Row, outside the atv.

I'm sure that's common, I also use Plex, but I wouldn't find it so absurd for Apple to release an App Store version of Front Row.

I'm hopeful they offer some type of replacement to allow Mac Mini home theaters to access iTunes content from the Apple remote, or I'll stick with Snow Leopard and Front Row. I have all my media stored in iTunes for easy access through Front Row and Plex won't play DMR content through the Apple Store, and very frequently screws up artwork/organization so that it's incredibly unreliable.

Worst case, I'd have to set up an aliased folder organized so that Remote Buddy can find everything, but that's be a big step backwards. Has there been any word on a potential iTunes upgrade that might pull video content in full screen?

Since I got my iMac 27" last year the remote controller often get disconnected. Don't know why but fine ... This makes Frontrow unusable for me. So actually I completely switch to Remote App on iPhone and enjoy that much more. And in some cases I even quick remote connect via SSH and shutdown the iMac without moving my tired body out of the bed; technology support laziness.

There are numerous, far superior media center type apps.

XBMC is my favorite, for instance. It also plays a ton of video formats that Front Row doesn't support.

Honestly, good riddance.

I appreciate the help but I have just resigned myself to not being able to get it to work.

I live in a 150 year old house with very thick walls on a busy street where you pick up about 50 wireless networks whenever you scan. I have tried AirPlay from my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook to my Apple TV and airport expresses and they all cut out.

I spent three hours on the phone to AppleCare and we eventually concluded that the problem was wireless interference. My router is a time capsule so I don't think the problem is going to be because of a crappy router. My ATV is not jailbroken, and the only files I play are iTunes music files (video just doesn't work at all).

To give you an idea of how badly the connection suffers because of all the interference my internet connection is 50Mb, and I achieve this with over ethernet, but as soon as I go 25ft to another room the wireless speed drops, often below 1Mb.

Oh man, I had this problem too. I use to be able to stream 1080p movies off of my laptop and onto the TV entertainment center before I moved into a garden apartment. Problem i found was that the distance wasn't the problem, but this big freaking mirror in my bathroom. My roommate, although further down the hallway, never had problems with connection, but I did because the angle of my room and the bathroom. Trust me when I say it took a lot of work to figure out why the heck my internet speeds weren't coming out as 24 mb/s and instead around like 10. I ended up bringing the wireless modem and the airport wireless N router smack across from my door in the hallway way to avoid the interference I was getting. All of the sudden I could get 24 mb/s anywhere in the apartment.

Over the next ten years i think wireless interference is going to become a huge problem, especially in congested cities like Chicago. I get reception just fine with my iPhone, but can't get download speeds worth squat. What's that law again where you eventually max out the bandwidth of a frequency (and recently someone was able to circumvent that)?
