Is there a way use Front Row with dvds already ripped to a ext. drive ?

If so .. How do i setup the file etc .. the dvds are ripped into TS-file using MTR

You have to convert them into mp4 using something like Handbrake. It takes a while but I think the results are great. I have almost my whole DVD collection backed up now.

Thanks, for the info

How long does handbrake take to convert ts file to mpeg4 on intel chip ..

'cause on my dual G4 i tried it for video ipod and it was painful on my dual G4 system 😱

On my lowly 17" 1.83GHz Core Duo iMac it's just a bit faster than realtime.

Okay .. could someone post a walk-thru instructions on how to seup "handbrake" for TS to Mpeg4 process? 😱

Once the dvds are in mpeg4 format, anyway to import them into itunes too ?

If you go the dvd assist route you won't need to use handbrake, it should just work withe the video_ts folder, thus saving you much time (approx 20 minutes to pull info off of dvd vs many hours of encoding).

For using a networked drive it involves putting an alias in your movies folder. I've not done it but the dvd assist instructions should tell you how. If not try the dvd assit thread over at avsforum.com.

Specificallly this thread
