I was given an Iphone 5S that had it's front screen completely shattered and the battery was also damaged. I ordered a new Battery and screen. I received the battery and proceeded to install it. I attached the charging cable to the Iphone prior to installing a new screen. The computer did recognize the Iphone initially, but now it does not. Should the computer recognize the iphone without a screen attached or does it need the screen on it. Just wondering if the Iphone it not going to work again and it maybe pointless attaching a new screen. Thanks for any advice.

If you have used your iPhone on this computer before it should be a "trusted" device and it should allow you to back it up. If it has not been used with this computer you will need to get your screen up and running as it will want you to confirm that your computer is trusted.

Why would you spend the time and effort to do this? I can't imagine you found all the parts for less than $280, which is what a new 5S goes for on eBay.

I paid $78 for the front screen and battery. When I installed the new battery the computer did recognize the Iphone and asked to trust on Iphone. Obviously I could not do that due to not having a screen. However, when I connect it now the computer does not recognize it or ask for the trust. I will try when I receive the new screen. Thanks for the responses.

Once I installed the screen I plugged the Iphone into a charger and the apple log appears and then disappears. It do not see the apple logo unless it is plugged in. Would this either be a faulty battery or something wrong with the motherboard?

The only response I get from my windows computer is when the Iphone is in recovery mode. In Device manager it says Unknown device (Device description request failed). Nothing shows up in Itunes. Thanks for any thoughts on this issue.

I went ahead and replaced the battery again and now it says "Iphone disabled, try again in 23,521,948 minutes" while showing aeroplane mode in the top left corner. Any idea what the fix would be for this. The computer is not recognizing the iphone even when in recovery mode.

Well it means that the phone had the wrong password input hundreds of time. If find my iPhone is deactivated try putting in DFU and you should be good to go.

Is there a reason why you're trying to so hard to get into this phone? Mostly just curious, but it might help people give you relevant responses. I.E. not wipe out all the data that you're trying to recover, if that's the case.

I would like to get the data off the iphone if possible for the person that gave it to me. If not then, just restoring the iphone is fine and see if it works again. I will try to put the iphone in DFU mode. Thanks for the responses.

My iphone goes into DFU mode, but itunes does not recognize the iphone. What is normal behavior for the iphone while disabled. It says searching, but doesn't list AT&T. The date and time are wrong. The battery shows it is plugged in, but does not increase in charge %. It is probably a hardware issue combined with an Iphone disabled due to incorrect password.
