Does it stop being frozen if you unplug your iPod?
For a time, I was having a problem like that, but only when my iPod was connected.

You're a genius. I unplugged my iPod and the problem went away.

Okay I think I have this issue licked now. I just went to use iSync apparently the first time after my reinstall. Well my iPod wasn't there and I couldn't get it to show up. So after some fooling around with firewire connections and unmounting and remounting I redownloaded iSync and reinstalled. Once I did that iSync would recognize my iPod and allow me to add it as a device.

Well now every time I open iTunes my iPod is mounted even if it was mounted prior to opening iTunes. I remember this as the correct default behavior and this hasn't been happening for a long time but I didn't realize it.

I think the reason the menu hangs is because of the iSync menu bar item combined with iTunes. iTunes must use the Sync service but since something was screwed up with it it failed to mount the iPod wich crashes iSync and it's menu bar item.

Let me know if this fixes your problems as well.

Another sometimes cause of those menu freezes: the Classic menu bar item doesn't work and play well with others. Don't use it.

Thanks to that idea, my frozen menu bar is gone - and to think I was about to post start a new thread. I should get bonus posts for not doing that :) Anyway, I just noticed it today, I wonder how long it has been doing that to me.

Maybe I should sue Apple for the sleep that I didn't get because I thought it was more than 2 hours earlier than it is right now. :D

I've definitely had that problem.
Reinstalling OSX seems excessive.
Just do a Repair Disk Permissions.
(Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility)

That usually fixes it just fine.

Peace.

Bluetooth causing Finder crash?

Does anyone else's clock on their menu bar freeze? Mine has been doing just so, and on both of my Macs, so I'm thinking it is a problem with OS X. The entire right side of the bar freezes, so I can't click on my Airport icon, te clock, or my Fast User Switch. When I place the mouse over top of the right side of the menu bar, it turns into the spinning ball. The only way to fix it is to restart my computer. If anyone has this problem or knows how to fix it, that would be great!

I have been experiencing the same symptoms and I am 99% sure that in my case it is to do with bluetooth crashing on my SonyEricsson P910i mobile during a sync.

It doesn't always do this, but when it happens, I find that even if I restart the Finder, the problem still exists. I always resort to a restart of the iMac. (sounds like a Windows PC fix huh? - reboot it!)

I have been trying to get the firmware upgraded on the phone (I know that a newer one exists).

I don't know if anyone else that is experiencing this type of fault is also using bluetooth connections with iSync?
