First of all big thanks for helping out and I don't know if I'm posting in the right forum, but here I go:

I'm having some frustration with my 17" Macbook Pro (late 2009 model) when it comes to Flash and I hope somebody could help me out, because I don't know what to do to get this issue fixed...

On some websites and especially www.bloomberg.com/tv I'm having big problems with the flash player. When I hit a bloomberg stream, I will get the advertisement video and when the normal stream should start, the video box turns black (controls are still there) and I only hear the audio of the stream.
This is cannot be a browser issue since I tried 4 different browsers (safari, firefix, chrome and opera) and no success at all. I tried installing some different flash versions and I'm currently on 10.2. Also did I try to disable hardware acceleration and played with some settings under 'global settings' with no success at all.

If I use windows 7 with parallels desktop and try to use the same bloomberg site everything works just fine...

I don't really get it... I'm having this issue since 6 months and before that everything worked fine. Hope that somebody here can help me out??
I would really appreciate it 🙂

Does it occur using a different network or internet connection?

You have already tried all the sensible options to isolate the problem so I`m at a bit of a loss as to what to suggest. Have you checked permissions?

It`s not a browser issue as you say it occurs under various browsers and ditto for the flash player so it sounds more OS related as it works under windows.

Extreme, but you could back up and reinstall OSX.

I am having similar problems with flash. My flash plugin crashes on Chrome, Firefox and Safari. It is pretty much constant. If I restart Chrome, it will play the first flash video I come to perfectly. The next one will crash it. I have been looking for a solution for over a month. I did an OSX install when I got my SSD a few weeks ago, so that is not the answer.

I think Bloomberg TV has long had issues with OSX due to the codec they use for the actual live streaming video. Not good news to the OP but I tried loading it and saw the same thing, and it works fine for me as well in XP under Parallels. Not sure what might have changed for you 6 months ago to make it not work? I tried using Flip4Mac to see if it is a codec problem but that still didn't work.

I believe their website still says they only support Windows.

Everywhere the same problem, if it was a connection problem I wouldn't work under windows...

Your talking about the permissions under 'global settings'? I've checked those and even reseted them, but nothing changed much.

I also think that it is something in the OS and I'm also thinking about wiping my HDD and make a fresh install, but before that I will try on an other new Macbook Pro if I get the same problem...

Thanks for your input. I also wanted to say I'm not only having flash problems with bloomberg. For example, I cannot watch a trailer on IMDB with Opera. I'm having problems with the Interactive Chart from Yahoo Finance. With other video streaming websites I often get the problem that my cursor isn't visible anymore etc etc...

I'm not really sure, but the problems started some days after I installed the Flash 10 beta, but I don't think that is the problem since I uninstalled Flash multiple times and installed other versions... I also think this must be partly a problem of bloomberg since I can here the sound *weird*

I tried using Flip4Mac to see if it is a codec problem but that still didn't work.

I believe their website still says they only support Windows.

Their old website (which still can be visited) has a windows compatible (WMV) stream which I watch in Chrome and Flip4Mac, but it's only a temporary solution since they don't have the Europe and Asia stream.

Anyway, I love my MBP, but Flash on the machine is a pain in the *ss and Apple & Adobe should try to make Flash 'more compatible' on a Mac. Next to the above mentioned problems I also hate that the CPU & battery usage with Flash is so high...
