sudo fs_usage -f network shows nearly constant http/mysql activity, and I can't nail it down:

10:56:24 select 1.000015 W mysqld
10:56:24 select 1.000014 W httpd
10:56:25 select 2.000021 W mysqld
10:56:25 select 1.000130 W mysqld
10:56:25 select 1.000015 W httpd
10:56:26 select 1.000015 W mysqld
10:56:26 select 1.000014 W httpd
10:56:27 select 2.000020 W mysqld

I do have a bunch of third party apps, and of course, Dashboard is running. I can't spot any running processes that look like they'd be driving this much activity. Do you think it's just apache and mysql waiting for connections or something?

I've got the same "problem" with mysqld, but it appears that the "select" command is, indeed, a simple polling for network connections. It shouldn't result in disk activity, so don't worry about it.
