Hi out there, here you see a total complete n00b on mac. I bought it yesterday and now try as best as I can to replace my 15 years of PC.

Now I got 2 problems that I cant figure out, and hope anyone here can help.

1: I need a ftp client with GUI, that fix identd and ssl for my ftp-sites.

2. I search for a irc client that fix identd and ssl, and blowfish for channel-encryption.

Anyone know any?

Kind regards
yabbah

For ftp I usually just use the command line, but I keep FileZilla around since there are versions for OSX, Windows and Linux. It supports ftp and sftp, and the release notes mention bugfixes for cases where identd is being used (so it probably supports it) but I haven't used it. It may not have a way to set identd responses directly, but since OSX is Unix you can run a native identd daemon (OSX doesn't come with one installed) and it sounds like FileZilla will use that value.

I don't use irc much, so xirc is good enough for me. No idea if it respects the identd settings or uses blowfish for channel-encryption.

Yabbah, how did you solve the problem with identd and ftp? I have some ftp servers that I can't connect to unless it sends the ident username, but I can't find any ftp program that can actually do that on a mac.

I already installed an identd daemon on my mac, and it's definitely working, but I've tried transmit and cyberduck, and neither of them have options for sending the ident username when connecting.

Any suggestions?
