Anybody else out there tempted by the 40% off sale on the xPro series? I hear that the xPro2 is supposed to have a 24mp sensor and 4K video but I'm not sure that's enough to pass up the xPro1. Would love to hear arguments for and against...

Assuming that the Pro2 uses the X series lenses, then the Pro1 makes a lot of sense given the price. Even more so if you can get a lens kit combo with a good discount. The 16mp of the Pro1 is no slouch (as you probably know). The 4k is well, like always - Fuji is not known for its movie capabilities and appears almost as something they threw in. There are better movie capable cameras out there (yes, I am an admitted Fuji Fan but honesty does count).

Last - if you get the Pro1, you can always sell it later (though probably not at a high price if the new camera is out).

Yea Adorama has the kit w/the 27mm and 23mm for $1249. Honestly I would prefer full frame in the same form factor but you hit my main concern on the head - will the the Pro2 use the same lenses? That is my biggest hesitation. I'm totally considering using it for a couple of years and trading up. You're right - I don't care about video when it comes to this camera. LOL I think you just sold me!

Probably--Fuji's investment in the X-series lenses is a big part of the reason why there probably won't be a full-frame X-series camera, as nice as one might be.

What is the price after the 40% off? There was a ridiculous X-Pro1 sale when you purchased it along with the 27mm and 35f1.4 earlier this year.

I have an X-E1 and X-A1. I don't think you can really go wrong purchasing an X-Pro1, surely the Pro2 will be what, $1500? I'm not able to justify a $1500 camera but if you're comfortable with that price range I think the new model should be a significant upgrade to the original. X-Pro1 (and X-E1) is a generation behind already (vs X-T1, X-T10 and X-E2) so the new model will be likely be adding the new AF features, electronic shutter, faster processor, etc and then going a step further (new sensor, weather sealed? etc)

It's pretty much a certainty that it will and it would be insane if it didn't. They just released the 35f2 which has a tapered design many believed was to limit visibility in the OVF of an X-Pro2.

Yeah too bad, I really would rather the full frame, especially if it has as many auto-focus points as they're saying the xPro2 is going to have.

The entire kit is $1249. The xPro1 body is $799 and the XF23mm is $299 ($400 off w/the bundle). Pretty good deal

I have an XPro1 and original X100, and I feel that if you're going to buy an XPro1 because it's cheap right now, it'll probably be just as cheap when the XPro2 is released because people will want to get rid of theirs.

See what the XPro-2 is before deciding. Personally, I don't buy cameras often, so if I purchase something, I'd prefer to do it once and do it right! Get the one you want, within reason.

There have been good deals on the XPro1 on and off for over a year now. I don't think the deals are suddenly going to get worse!

Agreed. In any event I took a trip down to Adorama tonight and decided to hold off. The XPro1 looks great but it felt a little bit chintzy to me - I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was thinking something along the lines of a Konica Hexar at least (maybe all the mechanical transports make those old film cameras feel more substantial to me, I don't know). The menus felt Mario Bros. dated and the camera seemed like a physical impostor of something that might actually take a beating. I hear great things about the X-Series lenses though. Unfortunately the $400 discount on the 35 1.4 is only good if you buy the X-Pro1. I was kind of digging the X-T1 that the saleswoman showed me though. I think I'll hold off and hope they run those crazy lens discounts in the future.

Every time Fuji comes out with a "splash" item, they run a discount on some cameras and lenses. The Pro 1 is a fine camera as is the deal.
