Hello everyone.,

I bought an iPad mini (1st gen) a week ago for my girlfriend as a gift and she decided she wanted to upgrade to the iPad mini with retina display. So on iTunes I did a full backup of the iPad mini to my computer, and restored the backup onto the iPad mini with retina display. Everything seems to have been restored except the game data for Clumsy Ninja, which she now has to start from the beginning again.

My question is why. Did I somehow not perform the backup correctly, or did I miss something during the restore?

Your help is much appreciated!

I don't think you did anything wrong. I don't think that info is backed up to icloud. None of my games kept their scores, but other apps did keep their data, so it must just be games aren't saved.

All my game scores have always saved when I restored from the cloud. There's a section where you can choose what gets backed up, including your games.

If you have the iPad mini still, you can set up iCloud on both devices and then open clumsy ninja on the old mini. When you open it again on the iPad mini w/retina it should sync clumsy ninja with the cloud and give you the option to restore the game.

Thanks guys, but I didn't backup to iCloud. I backed up to my mac and restored from the Mac. Don't know why game data didn't get backed up and restored ...

Maybe it's Clumsy Ninja's problem. The app force reloads itself and reads data from the Cloud every time you switch back to the app, I think it's their mechanism to prevent fake save data ("save file hack") to circumvent the in-app purchase. Normally, all app data can be restored to the target machine, including game saves. So I think you'd better write to Clumsy Ninja's developer and make a complain of this "bug".

Anyway, I'm at about Level 32 now. But I'm getting tired of the constant push for leveling up / paying for IAP.

We have this problem now as well. Clumsy Ninja is my boys favourite game and as the screen was smashed on his old iPad we got him a new retina iPad mini for Christmas.

An hour ago I had a very happy little boy but now when he realised that he has lost all his Clumsy Ninja data he is a bit sad!

This is really frustrating when things don't work as they should.

This has now sorted itself out now - took 12 hours to fully update from the cloud.

One happy little boy again in this house. :)
