I've noticed that there seem to be two types of glass screen protector; those that have a notch cutout with a non-protected border round the edge and full screen versions that cover the notch and tend to have a black plastic edge.

I think I prefer the idea of the edge-to-edge ones, but are there any downsides? I heard someone mention dust build-up round the edges, also that covering the notch might stop the notch tech working properly/the camera taking worse shots because it is covered.

Does anyone have any experiences with them they could share? The main reason I think I would prefer these is that I would worry about the notch getting scratched up if it was left bare.

Thanks.

I have been running the full coverage since the X...well maybe my FIRST screen protector exposed the notch. I haven’t had any issues with Face ID and the dust collection is minimal, but I use a case, so it’s hard to see the dust anyway.

I just prefer the seamless look of the full coverage protectors.

Be careful as all edge to edge screen protectors don’t fully cover the 11 pro. The black border of the glass cuts slightly into front camera and faceid becomes about half as fast. As well as a few millimeters of my screen are hidden along the right black edge which is a bit annoying but otherwise edge to edge in general is awesome, but just be aware you’re losing a bit of screen real estate for it. This is on the Tethys but they all use the same size and spec with the black border for edge to edge.

Really? That doesn’t sound good. Anyone else notice those issues?

It’s not for the Pro just the 11.

Just checked the recent critical reviews for this 11 size and it seems to have the same issues. For majority of users they don’t care or notice if face id is half the speed or if they’re losing millimeters of screen especially if they’re applying it right after opening phone but yes same thing applies to these, maybe I would recommend not edge to edge until the goofballs in china making these protectors actually want to get the size right.

Yes, the Tethys do cut into the screen in the lower corners but it's not that bad. Also the alignment tray that comes with the cheap Tethys does not fit the iPhone 11's, it's from last years phones.

FaceID is not any slower using these protectors in my case.

Got a couple FloLab's on order but I'm sure it will be a month of Sunday's before I actually see them.

Dude I was curious about the flolab since the guys youtube videos about them, but price is a bit too steep without more reviews, if you got the edge to edge you HAVE to update me on if it covers screen better than the tethys since you know the difference, if it does I’ll easily buy the flolab in a heartbeat

I only use the screen protectors with the black edge. I’ve had zero issues with bubbles, lifting, dust and anything else. I even buy the same ones for my daughter’s X.

A black edge does not indicate full coverage. It must state 3D and not 2.5D.

That is not a full 3D protector. Its a 2.5D. I bought it and returned it.

Use an XS or XS Max 3D protector. 3D ones for the 11 series seem to have not yet made the scene.

Will do. Just ordered the FLOLAB ones yesterday so I'm sure it will be quite a while before I seem them.
Ordered 2 full screen ones.

Why are there no full screen protectors that do not have the black edge? I’ve tried a few and they always cut into the screen in certain areas and that’s just unacceptable. This is why I’ve been using the standard screen protectors that only covers the OLED panel and that’s it. It’s a shame there aren’t any true edge to edge screen protectors that’s all glass and no black corners.

Bodyguardz Pure 2 Edge has the thinnest black bezels of any full screen protector so far.
I have a couple FLOLAB on order but believe that have a pretty fat black bezel also.

What are you asking? It might be edge to edge sure, how much of your actual screen is the black bezel covering?
I’m asking if you think mine has the issues you’ve been having with black bezels cutting into the screen. I think it doesn’t, cuz if you can’t even see where the black bezel ends/begins from my close-up pics, that should basically answer your question! Cheers! 🙃

Which one is this? Also are you certain it's not cutting into the OLED panel itself? You can't really notice it's happening unless you have the screen on while applying the screen protector. All of the ones I've tried so far cover the OLED panel somewhat so that's been my biggest issue with these screen protectors so far.
It’s the Maxboost Edge to Edge. There’s no interference cuz the black bezel starts where regular screen protectors end. The regular ones cover the viewing screen only, Maxboost adds the bezel, and there’s no curving/distortion of the screen under the bezelwhen the screen is on. I’m not sure you can have a bezel start further out than the edges of the screen, it wouldn’t stick to the curve properly, it would lift which is a prob for the companies trying to do that. Check my pics again, I’m extremely pleased with the quality and appearance, nearly impossible to see there’s a screen protector at all!

I don't think you understand the issue, It doesn't matter to me if the black bezel is cutting into my turned off BLACK screen. It matters when the screen is ON and blocking content. 🤦‍♂️

You have a bubble on the right corner.
I know!! I normally wouldn’t have left it, but I was so impressed with how perfectly aligned the Maxboost was on the first try, and there were no other bubbles/dust specks so I left it. It’s literally only noticeable when the screen is off and tilted a certain way, and it doesn’t look nearly as big as it does in the pics I posted.

I know, that’s what I just explained to the OP in the thread.

I bought the TETHYS off of Amazon. 3 protectors for $8, can't beat the price. Installation was a breeze, they fit right, and have already protected my wife's phone from 2 drops.
