Yes, it is not ready. The current version causes Microsoft Excel to crash. MS even posts a note that they are aware of the issue.

40% faster is still better than any other chip maker can claim at the moment.

They could have done all this in a press release, didn't really need an event for such minor updates. So far looks like my credit card is getting a break from Apple this fall.

I believe they can submit them any time but anything using an iOS 14 API is held until the OS is released. That's how it used to be years ago when I dabbled with app development myself. Don't know if it's changed since.
