Was it just me, or did Kara introduce Jonny and Laurene but skipped Tim?

End of what? Broken, unfunctional designs? Good. His inability to balance form and function hampered MacBooks for YEARS after Jobs was not there to push back on him.
So I guess you haven’t watched it?

Steve Jobs legacy was to keeping ‘making the best, and not the most’, and Tim Cook reiterated that promise.
However when you listen to them, it’s Jony that has the vision and insight, not Tim. Laurene hung onto every word Jony said, and twiddled her thumbs when Tim spoke.
It’s clear Jony and Steve were inextricably linked in the progress of Apple, and like many great couples who part, the one left behind feels lost and directionless.

I do love how people criticise people, designs and product, and have yet to create anything meaningful themselves.
Watch the video in full, it’s inspiring.

He loved the personal freedoms and liberties, but also the connectedness and responsibility for each other.
I think the young SJ had trouble connecting with those closest to him. I suppose wisdom comes with the years.

I can't even imagine how much better Apple would be if Steve was still with us. Not long before his death Steve warned them about an innovator’s dilemma. I'm sure he wouldn't be very proud seeing Apple doing the same old thing over and over again.

From my very upvoted comment on YT ;

Interviewer 0/10 , interviewees 10/10

She's no Walt Mossberg that's for sure , I recall her interviewing Steve and that Gates monster ages ago and she was quite frankly embarrassing / mega-cringe with some of her bizarre comments. Steve rolled his eyes and looked a tad annoyed at her , I don't blame him .

Yeah she makes a lot of pointed digs.

The interview with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy even worse, he looked super unimpressed with some of her comments

Some of the products would never get out of the door if he was still around. I really don't think he would like like seeing Apple follow the competition the way it does these days.

Very true, Ive and SJ were the genius modern Apple was built on. I cringe at the amount of hate Ive gets

Great interview! Steve Jobs was one of a kind. I wish all of Jobs' keynotes were uploaded to the archive in the highest quality. Most found online are recordings from streams in the days of broadband, so 240p.
They’re available on the Podcasts app titled ‘Apple Events’ back to 2007, and Steve Jobs done a few interviews with All Things D between 2003-2010 on the same app. There is high quality old keynotes on a google drive on a sub reddit but will have to do some digging as I can’t find it!

The ‘monopoly’ is maintained by verticalizing solutions, building walled gardens and not letting competition in.
Also by ignoring or not developing open protocols for modern applications like multimedia sharing or blogposting.
Was the case with EMS, then MMS now RCS. Let’s also not forget how they buried Atom.

Steve was there way before Jony and without Steve, there would be no Apple. The same certainly can’t be said about Jony.
And just because you find the interview inspiring doesn’t mean that everyone agrees.

Personally I loved this video and found it quite moving. Very insightful people in a deeply beautiful discussion, it moved me to tears at the end… Thanks MR for posting it!

I find Laurene very fake with her accentuated deep voice and dramatic whispering/pausing. She thinks she's special because she married Steve Jobs but that was her greatest feat.
That’s so harsh for someone you’ve never met and spent time with. She is special for dating, marrying, living with and loving Jobs, for supporting him, having and raising their children. Jobs isn’t exactly the easiest spouse to live with. She was there when he was ill and when he died. She is a unique individual who carries an unmatched memory of Jobs. She also continues to do philanthropic work and more.

It's a shame that Walt Mossberg retired he was always great in these interviews.

I watched the whole thing and it was quite good though even without him there.
The question Walt asked via Zoom,I’m pretty sure you can see Laurene say, “What a boring question” to Jony Ive, in fairness it was.

You would expect a better question from him. They’re all just so easy on them. Nobody has balls to question them anything serious. It’s sad.
