    Hi all,

Does anyone know how to change the linen texture when viewing apps in fullscreen? I've searched and googled and changed all linen apart from the fullscreen.

I've changed the two inside the dock app for instance.

I want to be able to show pdfs in Preview without linen making everything ugly.

    Thanks

The dark linen is found in several places including:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/Resources/NSTexturedFullScreenBackgroundColor.png
    and
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/defaultdesktop.png

This bit at StackExchange should get you going:
How can I replace the 'Linen' that is prevalent in many Lion apps?
    also see:
Change the Mission Control Background Wallpaper Image in Mac OS X Lion

If the background you seek isn't one of those, you could look for .png files containing the word 'background' or 'desktop'. I get about 15 'desktop' pngs and 900 'background' pngs on my HD; shouldn't be too hard to sort through for the right one.

Since Spotlight makes it a pita to locate files: EasyFind

Thanks for reply. I've tried all of that already. Everything is now black apart from the background fullscreen for apps...

    Anyone else have any ideas?

I think the Appkit executable located at "/System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/" renders the texture at run time similar to how the Dock does it now. That NSTexturedFullScreenBackgroundColor texture may be a relic left from Lion that Apple forgot to remove. Thats the conclusion I've reached anyway because I cannot find anything to swap out that will change the Full Screen texture.

I've given up. Downloaded Adobe Reader (it's horrible, especially the anti-alias on text) but at least it allows you to show your pdf without the foul linen! Can't believe it's apple doing this, it's like something I would laugh at windows for.

There's a nice piece of linen at: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FinderKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/linenTile.png
-Found searching for files of type .png, whose name contains 'linen'.

Didn't check to see if it's the one you're looking for, but Apple's got to keep the thing somewhere.
