function key not working for dictation

The command key trigger works fine. Customized keyboard triggers work fine. My Fn key is not broken, it just doesn't work with dictation 🙁. What could be the problem? I am running a mid-2012 13-inch macbook pro.

Because this is an anomaly and I would like to fix it 🙂

I recently purchased an Apple wireless keyboard. The Fn trigger doesn't work on it either.

Just have to ask 😉


1. With my PAGES, I had to download the update from the Apple store for Dictation to work. Did you ?

2. Do you have Dictation turned on from the System Preferences icon on the Dock ?

3. Have you clicked the fn key twice ?

The Fn key double-press trigger for Dictation (which is enabled) does not function in any text field.
