So when i heard that they first announced that you could use geo fencing in the reminders app to remind you to do something when you got somewhere, i was pretty excited.

However after messing around with it, i found it could only "geo fence" locations that you have saved in contacts. So for example if i wanted to remind myself to get something at the grocery store when i get there, i have to first save the address of the grocery store in my contacts.

I wish there was just a field where you could enter in a new address and it would use that on the fly.

Now if i'm wrong about this PLEASE correct me and let me know how to do it without having to save an address in your contacts.

You are correct! There is no way to accomplish this without first saving the address as a contact. I hope Apple fixes this in the next iOS release. Being able to just use pins on the map would be great.

I don't use it exactly because of that! I want to be able to drop a pin on the map.

I REALLY wish you could email directly into reminders too.

I have almost ditched all my other GTD apps in favour of simple Apple Reminders, but this one feature is a killer for my workflow! When i am using a keyboard on my laptop i just dont want to pick up the mouse ( or a device, simple email is all that is needed for me:(

I agree with this, would be great if you could just enter any address!

Anyone else noticing that it's pretty hit or miss as far as the accuracy of the GEO fence?

Hopefully ios 5.1 will patch it up

SUPER hit or miss. I hadn't used the geo fencing in awhile so i decided i wanted to test it out a few times this weekend. Not once did it notice i had arrived at my home.

And the funny thing is it says location accuracy will be improved when connected to wifi right? Well i have my wifi on all the time so the second i pull into a spot in my apartment complex it connects to wifi. Still i was able to get home and even 2 hours later i didn't get a reminder after i had arrived home.

Tested it again, i was able to go the entire day at my apartment without the reminder going off. That's a bit ridiculous.

Another feature i just thought of that i would enjoy would be to have a reminder once a contact or phone number called you.

An example of where this would be good is say there's someone you don't happen to call much, and its nothing super important, but next time they call you want to remember to tell them something. Once your phone rings you see the reminder pop up, so when you answer you will have your thought fresh on your mind of what you wanted to tell them.

For example i have my project manager call me weekly who is building my house, There have been things i want to remember to ask him when he calls that week. It would be nice to see those reminders pop up when i see his number call.

For me, Reminders is a very simplistic application, and for me, it doesn't fit the GTD paradigm. Things (Mac + iOS) for me, is a better platform.

I can use tags, have projects etc. Maybe my needs are higher than everyone else?
