Camera lenses are prone to developing fungus(mold/mildew) if left in humid areas. How likely is that with the iPhone camera lenses? Based on my understanding its the coating on the lens that causes the fungus to grow or the grime and grease from use. Its been raining like crazy so me and brother talked about it. He is slightly OCD about **** like this but he says unless you clean the lens regularly - its possible for mold to grow on the phone lenses. So I thought I'd post here and see what you guys had to say about it.

I'm in Boston and summers are quite humid here. I'm not very careful with my gear as I like to use it to it's best. So I use the iPhone in the woods, at the beach, in the rain. I check my DSLR lenses (some of them very old) regularily for fungus and also checked my iPhone lenses often. I had iPhones for 10 years (and also other cameras) and never saw any fungus.
I think/guess the iPhone lenses are sealed and don't get condensation/moisture on the inside unlike DSLR lenses that have moving parts like zoom/focus and pump in and out air from the inside leading to humidity inside the lens.
In short I wouldn't worry about it.

I’ve not seen another thread about this. At least not on this site anyway. If it were an issue, it’d be discussed on here in many threads I’m sure. So I wouldn’t worry about it.
