I have the OpenDNS servers setup in my AEBS. i was trying to troubleshoot a local network connectivity problem to another Mac in my house. I fired up terminal and instead of typing "ping jessica.local" which is my wife's machine, I inadvertently typed "ping jessica". I realized what I had done but before I could cancel the command I started getting active, regular responses.

    Huh?

I did a whois on the IP via the OpenDNS and the IP corresponds to one which they administer. I'm curious now. What kind of device on the OpenDNS network would reply to pings by simply typing "jessica"?

Would anyone else using OpenDNS care to give it a try?

I have tried openDNS a bit as well, and apparently it returns you suggestions for non existing domain names. So if you try to resolve a domain that does not exist you will get a reply from the openDNS servers. Try surfing to 'jessica' and you'll probably get a page from openDNS full of suggestions....
