Ho yeah pro max 15 5x optical zoom sounds cool, but then you can only 3x digital zoom. 3x optical is much more practical in most cases except you are like bird photo or football stadium player photo expert. Apple always wins lol.

Just walk a couple steps back :)

Pro max 15 don’t even have 128gb version to force people pay more.

Check out the Apple Store, don’t even have plastic screen protector for 15 series, all are much more expensive glass protector.

15 pro non max 3x optical is not something new but more practical.

Given the price of the Pro Max, the additional cost for a proper screen protector should be manageable. :)

Well Apple only sells expensive glass protector to cheaper non pro 15 only too. Much cheaper plastic was option for 14 and older version.

Honestly the 5x optical anti hand shake is really good, but who really need 5x much more than 3x?

I feel like 1-3x is move your feet range. Scene photos are almost always going to look more dramatic the closer you can get.

When you get up to 5x you get to get shots of things you just can't get any closer to. For video, I'm fairly impressed as well with up to 15x in ProRes log in bright conditions.

5x is also a great portrait lens provided you can get back far enough. You get a nice depth of field and it is flattering of faces.

Not missing the 3x.

Make it like we did: my GF wants the Max so she got the max and I went with the Pro. Most shots from us are during hiking so based on the scene we can switch between 3x and 5x lol

Yeah. Thankfully there is digital 2x which is very good. 3x can be long indoors. I didn’t have 2x on the 13P and was worried too of losing 3x, but after all it’s manageable

I had 11, 12, 13, and now 15 (all Pro Max) and I felt that 2x was the best optical zoom for me overall. Way more practical than awkward 2.5x or 3x.

So I’m very happy to get 2x back - together with 5x which is really useful too. 5x is something very different for the earlier zooms.

Like 2X too. But it’s not back, it’s cropped from main lens.

Was there 2x before? I think only the 48MP sensor of 14 and 15 allows for 2x crop with acceptable quality. Prior main cameras were 12MP and a crop would be too low quality. But the big sensor can make great looking "crops". Actually I just tested it, a 2x photo is sharper than the same picture taken at 1x and zoomed. Like, text on the books that isn't readable in the 1x photo is readable in the 2x, for some magical reason. I think it was explained in the Apple keynote but don't care, it works.

My X had 2x optical.

Oh ok, didn't know that, I thought we were referring to virtual 2x. Yeah optical 2x would have been nice. But I'm fine with simulated 2x and a 5x for portraits. I quite enjoyed the optical 3x in my 13P during travel, even in cities and urban settings a longer focal length can make for very interesting shots, more than the "normal" roughly 50mm equivalent of 2x, which is mega useful anyway
