If anyone cares - I actually went out and returned the iPad pro back case, and bought the urban armour UAG one. It has a pencil holder, and allows the apple Smart Cover to be used.

It holds the pencil very well and secure...so that's one issue solved..

While I was there, I compared the SP4 to the iPad pencil, and yep - the iPad pro has less of a glass feel, and is more natural to write with.

I was pretty much set on returning it, until I tried goodnotes, which single handedly won me over. I tried notability and PDF Expert, but goodnotes seems to have the pencil implemented much better. I was able to also import huge PDFs into goodnotes, so I can make annotations directly on it, and the palm rejection is perfect on it..so another issue settled.

I spent about 2 hours out with the wife, studying...and the writing is fantastic.

One thing I really like, is how with split screen you can automatically switch from window to window with the pen..you don't have to register a tap in the window first, before you can write,,like the SP3.

So I pretty much did a 180. If goodnotes is any indication, I think the iPad pro will be an amazing device once everything gets implemented.

Yes, I do like GoodNotes a lot. As it stands, I believe the Apple Pencil has yet to reach its full potential. Once more iOS apps are updated to properly utilize it I'm sure more and more use cases will arise.

Thanks for the heads up on goodnotes...Can you search the handwritten text of your notes? How well does the iPad<>iPhone sync work?

Cool!

I wasn't sure if it allowed for searching notes, but I just tested it and yep - you can search hand written notes.

I also just downloaded it to my 6+, and the notebooks I made on the iPad pro automatically synced to it. You could use your finger and edit the notes too on the phone.
