F fredr500 macrumors regular Original poster Dec 20, 2013 #1 My Windows laptop died with a fan error. The hard drive is fine, I can read it from a USB dock. Is there a way to build a VMWare Fusion VM from the drive? I can't us the PC migration tool since it requires a running PC. Any ideas? Thanks.

balamw Moderator emeritus Dec 20, 2013 #2 I've usually done this (Physical to VM conversion) as a two step process. Image the drive with Acronis True Image. Import the image (.TIB file) using VMWare Converter. B
