If you like a walk, do you need to know your heart rate, oxygen saturation, step count, distance, and your phone to tell you you did a good job?
Actively tracking some of these quantities and developing new habits with them in mind has certainly helped me on my way to having lost 40 lbs (and counting!) since January and significantly improved my heart health, something that’s important to me given a family history of serious heart problems.

Can the AirPods take/monitor my temperature? That would be a useful feature right now.

I had that idea too, awhile back. I was kind of surprised that the current generation didn’t have an IR temperature measuring ability like the ones I have seen hospitals use, where they place the device near your ear and get a quick temp reading. Let’s hope next time around that feature gets integrated. Body temp is even more at the forefront now for monitoring possible COVID-19 infection. I wonder if they could somehow incorporate sensors to act as additional leads for the watch EKG function.

What is going on with this craze about measuring every possible aspect of your body?
If you like a walk, do you need to know your heart rate, oxygen saturation, step count, distance, and your phone to tell you you did a good job? Is it impossible to enjoy the walk otherwise? Is it the instant gratification-generation that needs this?
Warning: your heart rate and blood pressure might increase when you read the fine print of this post below
Yes, I know about the great stories about these persons that got saved by their iPhone or Watch, but for every story like that, how many could have been saved by raising taxes and offering healthcare for everyone?

Heart rate target is one of the core components of a good cardio workout. That rate is dependent on age, weight, and other factors. Knowing your desired target and being able to monitor for it, then keeping it there for a period of time will make your workouts more efficient.

And no, we don’t need to raise taxes. We need the government to quit wasting so much of the taxes we already pay.

An ambient light sensor? I thought of a joke, but...

Oh, heck, someone has probably already said it, but: Will it check for brains? If you can see light through the ears, um... Well, I didn't say it was a good joke...

I'm waiting for Shake to Undo for AirPods.

HAH! I remember a not too particularly bright individual who was furious with his iPod. It never stayed on a song when he was running. Um... It's a 'feature'. You *can* turn it off...
