No, Apple doesn’t make screens. LG and Samsung, amount others, do. Apple is completely at their mercy.

If it made financial sense for them, Samsung or LG could cut off Apple completely leading to significantly inferior display tech in every device Apple sells.
In the case of tandem OLED, Samsung only started developing it at Apple's request. Samsun had initially considered it too expensive to be worth them investing in it but with Apple's support they did.

If LG or Samsung did cut off Apple it would just hurt them as they would be losing a major customer. It would make no business sense. The division of Samsung that builds displays is separate from the division that builds phones and they act like independent companies in many ways.

Would this affect individuals with PWD sensitivities?

I’m still using my iPhone 11.
I have never had a problem with a screen until I tried out the M4 iPad Pro. I had to return it because it felt like it was searing my eyeballs. I would be nervous about getting anything with the tandem OLED thing. I was really hoping for microled.

Honestly, Apple should consider ending the iPhone line entirely—and rebranding it as Apple Wallet. It’s not just a phone anymore. It’s already become our digital identity, our command center, and the bridge between us and everything we do.

Apple’s always talked about the intersection of technology and humanity—maybe it’s time to fully embrace it.

By that logic, Mac is the worst computer since Apple doesn't make any chips. Also, both LG and Samsung are NOT using any tandem or dual OLED for their products.
