You forgot about the part where we, as in the USA, support unsavory characters around the word when it suits our interests. We support these unsavory characters despite our call for freedom and democracy and similar ******** that people that already have power can easily ask for.

Maybe we should stop providing military support and stop interfering with the politics of other countries before telling people to overthrow their leaders.

Fair enough. We should stop this behavior. Some countries are probably better off NOT having open democracies, as crazy as that sounds.

Yeah, but now we're going to have our own home-grown, unsavory characters, so we won't have to outsource.

It will never happen. Sorry, it will happen when the Yuan is on par with USD and/or wages match up or there are some serious assembly line automation upgrades and investments that eliminate most of those jobs.

Unsubsidized iPhones have already maxed out their asking price (IMO) and Apple isn't going to eat the cost increase.

The 'butt hurt' is strong with this one.

The PEOTUS hasn't even taken office yet and we're talking American manufacturing for the iPhone - this is a good thing for everyone.

It's not a good thing to have products sold in the U.S. cost far more than they need to. Many families rely on being able to buy imported goods at big box stores to clothe their families, and to be able to afford appliances. 88% of the American jobs lost between 2007 and today were lost to automation, not to foreign imports. Making every family pay extra for anything that could be more efficiently made elsewhere is not the answer. American industry must learn how to produce something the world wants at a competitive price, and Americans must learn skills that will make them valuable in a global economy. Simply overcharging some Americans to subsidize American workers who can't compete on an even playing field with workers in other countries is unfair.

Not to mention that regarding the iPhone (and probably many other less-known products), the co-location of many suppliers in one central compound makes it far more easy and efficient to make last-minute changes to design. The responsible parties in each supply chain can meet around a conference table on an hour's notice, find solutions and quickly implement the changes needed. Other countries economies may be strongly state controlled, but central control does seem to be able to create efficiencies that are more difficult to achieve under the American free enterprise system.

Thanks Donald!

Wow talk about fake news...did this come from Breitbart?

Anti-Fake news = attempt to silence opposition. Does it worry you that this charge against fake news will result in silencing a side. The side that isn't in power or isn't funding major news or whoever is in control of making the determination of what is fake or not?

Everyone should kill this anti-fake news movement if you value free speech or you're going to see more echo chamber failures and people crying in the streets asking "how could this happen" because they are feeding the mindless masses manufactured "real news" by the controlled main stream media.

This anti fake news has "kill conservative media" written all over it. When the power changes hands it just might have kill liberal media written all over it. Let the end user decide, don't put the power in the hands of gatekeepers such as facebook or google or you will create a monster.
