This brand is about to arrive to my country soon (Chile).

Here we have SO MANY car brands, from different countries. Our country has the most amount of car companies in the world, by far. Tesla just arrived early this year and it's the only country in South America that you can buy one officially.

whats the point to apple car keys? most modern cars have wireless access, push start anyway, in addition to connected apps. so I never have to take my key out of my pocket - i don't get what this feature adds?
agreed. I rather not have my car locked in to a particular phone platform

It might be an unpopular opinion, but I really wish Chinese-owned car companies like Lynk & Co sold their EVs in North America... it'd shake up the somewhat stale EV market here. 😔
Absolutely, it is a bit better here in Europe and even the EU within Europe compared to the UK. There are some interesting models available. But even then we don't get everything. The US is seriously running behind all of this, not just with available cars but also with infrastructure to support it.

So you don't have to bring a key with you as well. One less thing to carry around. Most people have their phone or smart watch with them anyway. I've been driving like that for the last 2.5 years in our Polestar.
Is Apple Car Key like having another set of keys or does the vehicle's OEM key have to be in the driver's pocket to use the iPhone as a key?
No, that isn't necessary. There will be a need for initial pairing, and likely occasional re-authentication and verification, but no need for other keys.
Have you heard of Volvo or Geely? That's who's behind Lynk & Co

But, to be fair they're new to me as well, and I follow a lot of EV news!
Lynk & Co 01 has been in our market for a while. Their business model is that you can't buy their cars, it is renting only. I find them a little weird and odd, and their styling isn't to my taste either but that is subjective of course.
They don’t make EVs, that’s for their sibling Zeekr
Not yet, but yes they are part of Geely and the platform of the Zeekr 001 and the Polestar 4 and Lotus Emeya, is expected to surface in the Lynk & Co Zero. I assume the business model behind that is their long term rent model again, and that the car is detuned compared to the others in the range.
