Given the power of the iPad processor does anyone else thing it would be a good idea to offer either macOS or iOS as the operating system when loading a new device?

I am currently using a Logitech keyboard case for my iPad Pro 10.5 and repeatedly try and reach for a trackpad. Am I the outlier? The ideal situation would be a dual boot scenario (very Windowsish but convenient).

Thoughts?

It isn't as easy as throwing macOS on the iPad. I would think that re-writing macOS to use Cocoa Touch, instead of Cocoa, would be a major undertaking and would have a negative affect on iOS users until all iOS apps are updated for the new "ipadOS" API. This may also require buying the new versions of apps again due to the work that independent developers would have to put into new versions of their apps - the entire apps catalog of iTunes would need to be updated.

With all the rumours about A based processor Macs do you think the iPad will be the first example?

If you use the Smart Keyboard/ third party alternative and couple it with a third party mouse the lines between a small MacBook and the iPad are eliminated.

Using this 2018 iPad Pro, I’m not sure I want a computer tablet running Mac. I like how the iPad is simple, walled off garden, safe from mal ware or weird melisciois software. I have a MacBook Pro for heavy lifting. It’s great for my use case. I think surface is a good compromise if you budget is tight and you want a convertible laptop.

The two biggest mistakes Apple makes is:

1. No mouse support for iPad. People want it, some need it. Do it! Make it a REAL laptop replacement. If a trillion dollar company cannot manage to do this, I really do not know what to say.

2. Make your crappy iPad keyboard backlit. Jesus H. Christ, it is 2019 and for what you charge for the keyboard, you should be brought up on criminal charges for not including backlit keys. Cheap bastards.

And, it should be obvious, but give us a way to save/organize files.

Nope.

Apple needs to improve the iPad's OS to do more but I support their decision to stay with iOS. iOS doesn't always have to have such limitations. It is just Apple's decision.
