Hey all, I have a few old iPods (1st gen, 3rd gen, and 4th gen). As you know, the 13" MBP does not have a FW400 port and, therefore, I need a FW400 to FW800 to sync the 1st gen and restore the 3rd gen iPods. Here is what I found: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw_adapter.html Has anyone used this product, or any other FW400 to FW800 adapter? Results? Thanks! I have that exact one and it works great. I have an old iPod shuffle which uses a USB connection so I don't know about your iPod but the adapter has worked for just about everything else. It cost me something like $10 USD so it's not much of a financial lost if it doesn't work. You'll need it for all your other Firewire 400 devices so you might as well get it.
You could opt to forgo the adaptor and just get a FW400 to FW800 cable. Here's an example of one available from Monoprice.
Well it will work for the 1st gen one (and 2nd gen iPods) but not ones with dock connectors. Monoprice does not sell the cable he needs from what I can see.
